There's more to Bhutan than mountains and monasteries. In the capital city, Thimpu, is a traditional weaving center. On exhibit are a variety of woven crafts such as scarfs, shawls, jackets, belts, shoes, and Bhutanese national attire, all made from the finest silk. The vibrant colors and intricate designs are a delight to the eye.

The value of each handwoven garment is dependent on the intricacy of the design. Finely embroidered textiles with elaborate designs can take over a year to be produced.

As automation takes over the world, this center is working to preserve ancient traditional handmade art, a true heritage in itself.
